She explained that there were many empty seats on the plane, and she initially sat alone after boarding. Later, the Chinese man took the second seat next to her, occupying the aisle seat. Most of the passengers fell asleep after take-off.

The woman remained awake, using her phone. She then noticed the Chinese man opening the overhead storage compartment and retrieving a black bag. He searched through it but appeared unable to find what he was looking for.

Initially, she assumed the bag belonged to him and paid little attention, returning to her phone. However, she decided to record a video of him in case any wrongdoing was involved.

According to the woman, the Chinese man returned the bag to the storage compartment and changed seats, which made her even more suspicious. She continued to observe him and saw him retrieve more bags, searching through them.

Convinced that the man was a thief, she tore a paper bag from her meal to write a note for the cabin crew. She also informed them that she had recorded a video of the suspect.

The crew agreed with the woman’s suspicion and later informed her that police officers would be called to the plane upon arrival at an airport in Hong Kong.

According to the woman, police officers asked to see the video on her phone and requested that she identify the suspect before arresting him. She urged members of the Facebook group to be mindful of such incidents and avoid leaving valuables in the overhead compartments.

The woman received widespread praise from netizens for her quick thinking, with some sharing similar experiences of witnessing thefts onboard in the comments section.
