Thai woman assaulted by friend’s boyfriend for intervening in fight
A Thai woman is seeking justice after her friend’s boyfriend physically assaulted her on November 10 when she intervened in their dispute at a condominium.
Nilobon took to social media to share CCTV footage of the incident after the police failed to provide any updates on her case a week after she filed the complaint. The identity of the attacker, identified only as Boy, was clearly visible in the video.
Nilobon revealed on her Facebook account that she worked as a public relations promoter for an alcohol brand at the same venue as her friend, Noon. She and Noon also lived on the same floor of the same condominium.
On the day of the incident, another friend wanted to meet Noon and waited for her in the lobby. When the friend was unable to contact Noon, Nilobon volunteered to knock on Noon’s door as their rooms were close to each other.
Nilobon said that Boy answered the door instead of Noon. Looking into the room, she saw Noon in tears. She had never met Boy before and only learned that day that he was Noon’s boyfriend.
Suspecting that Boy and Noon were arguing and concerned that Boy might hurt her friend, Nilobon tried to bring Noon out of the room and asked about the conflict.
Boy became angry at Nilobon’s intervention. In the CCTV footage, he was heard shouting at her.
“What’s wrong with you? Coming here for what? Why? Go away! Go away! What the f*ck is wrong with you? Too nosy, huh?”
Police inaction
The three were then seen coming out of the room, and Boy immediately punched Nilobon in the face. Nilobon tried to fight back while Noon attempted to stop her boyfriend’s violent behaviour. Boy continued punching and kicking Nilobon until she collapsed to the ground.
The physical assault and verbal abuse were captured by the CCTV cameras. Nilobon eventually separated herself from the couple and entered her room, while Boy and Noon continued their altercation. The video ended with the pair re-entering their room.
Nilobon shared pictures of the injuries on her body with her followers. She sustained bruises on her arms, legs, shoulders, chest, and eyes, as well as a wound on her mouth. These injuries prevented her from working, as her job required her to maintain a perfect appearance.
In an interview with Channel 8, Nilobon revealed that she had filed a complaint against Boy and initially requested 35,000 baht for medical treatment. Boy negotiated the amount down to 25,000 baht, which Nilobon agreed to. However, Boy later disappeared and failed to pay the compensation he had promised.
As of now, the police have not reported any progress on the case, and the attacker has not come forward to take responsibility for his actions.
