Taiwanese singer-actress, Maxine Chi recently became a new mother following the birth of her first daughter.

Chi and her husband flew to Canada a month in advance to prepare for the birth. The Taiwanese singer-actress posted the first picture after the birth, which showed her holding her newborn daughter against her chest, without a shirt on, which sparked some controversy online.

This intimate post-birth picture stimulated online drama among Taiwanese netizens as some comments criticised the Taiwanese singer-actress for showcasing her bare skin while posting a picture of her newborn. They questioned why she had to be naked while giving birth.

In response to the negative comments, the Taiwanese singer-actress explained that she was not completely naked, but the doctor and nurses at the hospital suggested skin-to-skin contact immediately after birth. According to medical reasons, this helps the baby feel connected to the mother’s body and allows the baby to experience the mother’s touch immediately after birth, reported Sanook.
