Man shoots wife in heated argument in Nakhon Si Thammarat

A man was apprehended after shooting his wife, leaving her in critical condition, following a heated argument. The incident took place yesterday, October 25, in Pak Phanang, Nakhon Si Thammarat, after the couple exchanged harsh words.

Police officers, including Deputy Investigator Raengchai Khaorueang from Pak Phanang Police Station, received a call about a domestic shooting. Upon arrival at the residence in Khlong Noi, they found a 30 year old woman suffering from a gunshot wound to her chest. She was quickly transported to Maharaj Nakhon Si Thammarat Hospital by rescue workers.

The investigation revealed that the suspect, a 33 year old man, fled the scene in an Isuzu pickup truck. Officers immediately issued a radio alert to intercept the vehicle. The suspect was eventually apprehended in Bang Chak, Mueang Nakhon Si Thammarat, while still attempting to flee.

According to KhaoSod, upon capture, the police conducted a search and recovered the weapon used in the incident, a .22 calibre gun along with four additional 12-gauge shotgun shells. The suspect was taken back to the police station for further questioning.

During the interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime. He admitted to having a severe argument with his wife, during which she insulted his parents with offensive language. Enraged by the insults, he grabbed the shotgun with the initial intention of threatening her.

However, when his wife challenged him to shoot, he lost control and pulled the trigger, hitting her once in the chest. He then took the shotgun and fled in his pickup truck.

Following the confession, the officers conducted a urine test on the suspect to check for illegal substances. He is now facing charges of attempted murder and violations of the Firearms Act. Legal proceedings are currently underway.

Meanwhile, the condition of the wife remains critical. She is under close medical supervision at the hospital, with doctors diligently monitoring her progress.
