Man found hanging from high-voltage pole in Nakhon Ratchasima
A well-dressed man was found hanging from a high-voltage electricity pole, shocking a local vendor who witnessed the scene. He appeared despondent, drinking soda alone, said the vendor.
At 8am today, July 10, Aditep Tangkrothok, Deputy Inspector of Nakhon Ratchasima Police Station, received a report of a suicide in front of a convenience store in the city’s municipal area.
Upon arrival at the scene on Suebsiri Road, police discovered the body of a man dressed in a purple shirt and shorts, hanging approximately 8 metres from the ground using a telephone wire. Officials from the Provincial Electricity Authority of Nakhon Ratchasima and volunteers from the Sawang Metta Korat rescue unit helped lower the body for the initial examination.
No evidence suggesting foul play was found, and the deceased, estimated to be between 35 to 40 years old, had been dead for at least two hours. The police found 309 baht (US$8.5) and a single amulet in his pocket but no identification documents. The body was then transported to Maharaj Nakhon Ratchasima Hospital for a post-mortem examination as part of the unnatural death investigation process.
A vendor named Aey, who sells drinks nearby, reported that she saw the deceased yesterday, describing him as a good-looking man who seemed to be in a state of depression. Early this morning, she noticed him drinking soda alone before he climbed the pole to end his life. The police will continue their investigation to locate the man’s relatives and uncover the true reason behind his tragic decision, reported KhaoSod.
