Lorry brake failure causes six-vehicle crash in Chon Buri
A lorry brake failure today led to a massive six-vehicle collision in Chon Buri. The initial collision with a ten-wheeler truck ultimately led to a domino effect involving six other vehicles, resulting in one injured driver.
Officers from Chon Buri City Police Station and the Thammarat Foundation rescue team responded to the scene on Ban Bueng-Chon Buri Road at the bypass intersection in Nong Ree, Chon Buri City. They found a white Isuzu lorry that had rear-ended a ten-wheeler Hino truck.
This collision caused a chain reaction involving another white Hino lorry from, two pickup trucks, and another white ten-wheeler Isuzu truck.
The driver of one of the vehicles, 48 year old Rachat, was found trapped in the wreckage. Rescue teams used cutting tools to free him and provided initial medical assistance before rushing him to Chon Buri Hospital for further treatment.
The driver of one of the ten-wheeler trucks involved in the wreckage explained that he had slowed down and stopped at a red light when he felt a strong vibration and heard a loud noise. Upon inspection, he discovered that a lorry had crashed into the vehicles behind him, causing a chain reaction.
The driver of the white Isuzu lorry, 32 year old Kerdchon recounted his experience. He was on a delivery job when he approached the downhill section where the incident occurred. He saw the vehicles slowing down but couldn’t stop his lorry as the brakes failed.
Police will review CCTV footage from the area and further question the involved drivers to proceed with legal actions as required, reported KhaoSod.
In related news, a lorry carrying goods crashed through a bridge railing and plunged into a 3-metre-deep ravine in Lampang, causing injuries to the driver. Rescue teams quickly transported the injured driver to the hospital for treatment.
