The Thai authorities apprehended a former massage parlour cashier at Suvarnabhumi International Airport in connection to grand theft, with the heist totalling over 40 million baht. The 22 year old transgender woman was wanted for the alleged theft of valuables from a wealthy Phetcha Buri businesswoman’s home.

On the evening of May 4, a daring heist took place in the district of Mueang, Phetcha Buri, at the residence of a 68 year old construction business entrepreneur, Wiralpatch.

In a well-planned operation, the suspect, who had previously worked as a cashier at a Thai massage parlour, is accused of stealing a vast array of assets including cash, gold, diamond necklaces, diamond rings, and revered Buddhist amulets, cumulatively valued at more than 40 million baht.

Following the crime, Asim reportedly fled the country, managing to evade the authorities for a period. However, the pursuit came to an abrupt end when she decided to return to Thailand, landing at Suvarnabhumi Airport.

Upon arrival, the Immigration Bureau’s police, along with the investigative officers from the Phetcha Buri Provincial Police, swiftly apprehended the suspect after a verification of the arrest warrant in the system.

In the wake of the arrest, the Phetcha Buri Provincial Police are likely to proceed with a thorough investigation to determine if the suspect acted alone or as part of a larger network. The recovery of the stolen items will also be a priority for the authorities, as they seek to provide some measure of restitution to the victim, reported Khaosod.

Asim’s apprehension is the culmination of a coordinated effort between the Immigration Bureau and the local Phetcha Buri police. With the suspect now in custody, the process of legal prosecution is set to begin, aiming to address the significant financial loss suffered by the victim of the theft.

This high-profile case has captured the attention of the public due to the substantial value of the stolen goods and the suspect managed to abscond.

The arrest highlighted the effectiveness of the Thai police force’s tracking and surveillance systems, which ultimately facilitated the swift capture of the suspect upon re-entry into the country.
