A Chinese nationals kidnapped and robbed a woman in Bangkok before fleeing Thailand.

According to Deputy Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, Pol. Col. Nopphasil Poonsawat, the incident took place on April 17. A group of Chinese nationals abducted a 28 year old Chinese woman in Bangkok’s Huai Khwang district.

The victim, a solo traveller, had gone to an entertainment avenue in Bangkok’s Royal City Avenue (RCA). There, she met a man who invited her to his apartment he rented in the Rama 9 area, where another man was hiding.

Both men then tied up the victim with a rope and stole her iPhone 14, cash amounting to more than 427,000 baht, and other belongings.

The next morning (April 18), the two perpetrators fled to Suvarnabhumi Airport intending to escape Thailand.

The victim was bruised from being struck in the face. Questioning revealed she did not know the suspects, Bangkok Post reported.

Pol Col Noppasin says Huai Kwang police and the Foreign Affairs Division are collaborating with Interpol to issue a Red Notice to arrest the two Chinese suspects.

Meanwhile, in another abduction case in the Sathorn area, the ransom amount was more than THB 1.8 million. Pol Col Noppasin said Bang Pong Pang police have arrested 12 of the 13 suspects, and the last missing suspect has fled Thailand. Pol Col Noppasin added that police are working to issue arrest warrants for the other Thai accomplices who were involved in the crime.

In yet another abduction case in Bangkok this week, one of six suspects accused of kidnapping a Chinese man for a ransom of nearly 4 million baht in Bangkok on April 14, said his motive behind the crime was “to help the nation” since the victim is a wanted Chinese criminal. On April 18, police detained 27 year old Natthaphat “Gob” [surname withheld] for interrogation at Lumpini Police Station in Bangkok about his involvement in the kidnap of 33 year old Wang of Chinese nationality.
