She acknowledged that some loved ones were sceptical but remained firm in her choice, reiterating her stance during a TV interview.
Appearing on Australia’s Today show, Macpherson discussed her diagnosis and noted that not all feedback had been positive.
Addressing her critics, Macpherson mentioned that many had not read her book or experienced similar situations. However, she saw a positive side: “I’m really pleased that it has sparked conversation and discussion because with discussion comes awareness and growth.”
She emphasised that she sought extensive medical advice before deciding, noting that every doctor had a different opinion on treating her cancer.
“There was no clear path, and there were no guarantees either way,” she said. “I just made a decision based on all the information that I’d gathered, and what felt right for me.”
Macpherson clarified she was not advising others on cancer treatment but simply sharing her experience.
“It’s an honest chapter,” she remarked, reflecting on her role as a role model.
In her book, Macpherson admitted that rejecting standard medical treatments was the hardest decision of her life. “But saying no to my own inner sense would have been even harder,” she added.
Macpherson is now clinically in remission and celebrates her health.
