Asia Superyacht Rendezvous prepares to sail in to Phuket

PHUKET: The Asia Superyacht Rendezvous will shine bright again in Phuket from December 16-18, when guests can enjoy the many facets of this invitation-only event.

This is Asia’s largest rendezvous of superyacht owners, guests, VIPs and crew as they gather together to have fun just before the hectic Christmas season.

Latest superyachts to confirm their participation are M/Y Samax, M/Y Vie San Soucis, S/Y Sunshine, S/Y Lady Thuraya and S/Y Lamima, a stunning 65-meter Gaff-rigged luxury Indonesian classic Phinisi that will be this year’s host yacht for the opening night cocktail party.

The venue for the event is Kata Rocks Resort, which recently won the ‘Leading New Resort’ and ‘Leading Villa Resort’ awards at the World Travel Awards in Hong Kong.

“We are proud to be a part of such an amazing event. Sitting pool-side at Kata Rocks, overlooking the magnificent superyachts that attend the event each year is a beautiful sight,” said Scot Toon, general manager of the Kata Rocks Resort.

The year’s Rendezvous will be featured in ‘Rose’s Favorites’ on PGTV, hosted by cultural super fan Rose Maitland Smith.

“The chartering potential here is enormous. With the diversity of the cruising grounds, steady and relatively calm weather patterns and stunning natural scenery, Phuket is a charter client’s dream,” said Captain Will Bagshaw of M/Y Titania who attended the Rendezvous in 2014.

“The Rendezvous is more than three days by the sea. It’s a way of life, an ethos, a passion – it’s where you can live your dreams,” said event manager Andrew Davies.

Event organizers Charlie Dwyer and Gordon Fernandes are true luxury yacht lifestyle evangelists, introducing the pleasures of cruising to the Asian market, with Charlie being an ex-America’s Cup participant and sailing for more than 45 years.

The Rendezvous aims to give the ultra-luxury sector of the tourism market a formidable and unshakable presence in Phuket.
