PN coalition may seize control in Malaysia with ex-Umno members’ support

Perikatan Nasional (PN), a Malaysian political coalition, may seize control of Negeri Sembilan and Selangor from the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition in the upcoming state elections, according to PAS spiritual adviser Datuk Hashim Jasin. He suggests that this could be achieved if former Umno members Khairy Jamaluddin and Tan Sri Noh Omar join PN. Hashim also claimed that another suspended former Umno vice-president, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein, could potentially join the coalition after Tan Sri Annuar Musa did so in Kelantan.

Hashim highlighted the significant following of Khairy and Noh, stating that their support would have a considerable impact on the election results. He cited the example of former Umno member Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim, who retained his Arau seat while under PN’s ticket, indirectly helping the coalition win 17 out of 18 seats in the state.

Last week, Khairy announced his plans to meet with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to discuss the possibility of joining the party. Muhyiddin had previously offered Khairy a position in the Bersatu Supreme Council if he were to join the party.

Meanwhile, Hishammuddin confirmed that he was never summoned by the party’s disciplinary board after his suspension. Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi stated that the party is open to reinstating members who were previously suspended, with the Umno disciplinary board reviewing each appeal and the party’s Supreme Council making the final decision. The deputy prime minister also confirmed that Umno has not received any appeals from former members who were expelled from the party.

Other individuals, such as Datuk Maulizan Bujang and Datuk Seri Mohd Salim Shariff, were also suspended, while Khairy Jamaluddin, Tan Sri Annuar Musa, and Tan Sri Noh Omar were sacked from the party.
