Update on Koh Phi Phi fire
The Chief of Krabi Office of Tourism and Sports, Kirada Lamkorat, says that the tourist centre has received reports from 27 foreign tourists who have lost possessions in the fire, mainly important documents, and they have been brought to make a police report at the Koh Phi Phi Police Station to claim with their insurance companies and start the process of sorting out their ID documentation.
Meanwhile, the owner of October Hostel, where the fire on Phi Phi Island started on Tuesday night, and his staff are being investigated by Koh Phi Phi police.
Police say the cause of fire has been proven to be a gas leak. However, police won’t reveal details of their initial findings which led to this conclusion. The forensic police are still collecting more evidence at the scene.
Six of the injured tourists have recovered while one staff from the restaurant remains at the hospital, suffering from burns on the face, neck and arms.
