Two fishermen missing after Phuket storm

Two local fishermen from Rawai have been missing since heading out fishing on Thursday (July 5).

The Royal Thai Navy Third Area Command (NAC3) officers were notified yesterday morning (July 7) of the missing men.

The two fishermen who remain missing are Prawit Salee and Saksri Naoprai. They headed off to the east of Koh Racha Yai at 2pm on Thursday (July 5).

Mr Prawit’ sister says, “Mr Prawit and MR Saksri went off on a long tail boat. At 4pm on Thurday (July 5) they then headed from Koh Racha Island to Koh Mai Ton to wait for the storm to pass. That was their last contact. Since Thursday we cannot contact them.”

“We want relevant offices to search for them. Local fishermen on long tailed boats are helping to search for them as well but no one has found them yet.”
