PHUKET: Nearly 100 of the world’s top surfers are competing at the Quiksilver Thailand Surfing Competition at Patong Beach, Phuket.

From: Phuket, Indonesia (Six months here, six months there). He lives on his family’s surf charter yacht.

Fact: One of his nicknames is Teiki Airlines, so called because of his trademark aerial maneuvers.

His words: “I hope I win. There are a lot of professionals from Bali competing here. It’s going to be tough going.
“The conditions were very difficult on Thursday. The waves don’t have a lot of power. We’re trying the best we can in what we’ve got. We’re just hoping the swell picks up.”
