Video Report: Phuket International Hospital organizes charity run
PHUKET: Phuket International Hospital will hold its annual “Run for Health, Run for Charity Mini Marathon” this February 22, with the winners receiving trophies presented by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.
“This is the third year that Phuket International Hospital has organized this event. It will be a great honor to have HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn taking part by presenting trophies to the male and female winners of both the fun run and the mini marathon,” said Suchart Areemit, director of Phuket International Hospital.
The marathon is divided into two categories: 3.5 kilometer fun run and 12km mini marathon. Admission fees for the fun run and mini marathon are 200 and 250 baht respectively.
For a special VIP admission price of 2,000 baht, runners will automatically receive a trophy at the end of the run, whereas only the first 300 across the line in the fun run and the first 350 in the mini marathon will receive token medals for participating.
This year, the event will also offer a special price of 500 baht to families and groups of three people participating in the fun run category.
The mini marathon will begin at 6am on Bang Yai Road, behind Phuket International Hospital and continue along Wichit Songkhram Road, Mae Luan Road, Rang Hill, Patipat Road and Krabi Road in Old Town, before returning to Bangyai Road for the finish.
The fun run, which will also start at 6am, begins on Bangyai Road and heads out onto Wichit Songkhram Road before turning into Chalermprakiat Ror IX Road in front of Central Festival, and then back onto Bangyai.
“A percentage of the admission fee for entering the event will be presented to HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. Last year, we were able to present Her Majesty with 200,000 baht. We hope to raise even more money at this year’s event,” said Dr Suchart.
