Turkey emergency prompts appeal for help
(PHUKET): American pilgrims on Phuket are up in arms at what appears to be a conspiracy by the island’s restaurateurs and F&B managers to deprive them of a basic gastronomic right: their annual indulgence in a feast of turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes with gravy, cranberry sauce….
Wesley Gobbler, head of the Special Investigations Unit of the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok, told the Gazette this morning that there was nothing his mission could do about the looming catastrophe, and that it was not, in any event, U.S. Government policy to meddle in the culinary affairs of Phuket.
George Washington, president of the Phuket American Chamber of Commerce, told this reporter in confidence that he would announce tomorrow a massive, Island-wide Turkey Hunt.
“We will stop at nothing to locate turkeys wherever situate in this province, and we will report back to our members no later than Wednesday, November 21, with the names and phone numbers of all restaurants offering genuine, traditional Thanksgiving fare on the Big Day.
“That day this year is Thursday, November 22,” he added.
The Gazette wishes to assist Khun George. Would any restaurant on the island offering a Thanksgiving feast let us know of that event? We will then place it here as a front page news item no later than noon on Wednesday, November 21.
Bon appetite.
