Tah Chat Chai wins expo center vote

PHUKET TOWN: Tah Chat Chai in Tambon Mai Khao received overwhelming support as the site for the proposed International Convention and Exhibition Center (ICEC) this morning. At a meeting of 262 government officials, leaders of business organizations and members of the public, chaired by Vice-Governor Winai Buapradit at the Provincial Government Financial Center on Narisorn Rd, 226 people voted for Tah Chat Chai. Saphan Hin received 19 votes, Khao Khad on Ao Makham got 17 and a site opposite Suan Luang Park in Phuket Town received no votes. “Over the past two years we have had many discussions about the best place to build the ICEC,” said V/Gov Winai after the meeting. “But [we] have never been able to reach a decision because so many people had different ideas. “Now that we have had a vote we can send our decision to the Prime Minister for his consideration.”
