Slipstream leads Phuket’s Lady Pie race series

PHUKET: The Lady Pie Series got underway with its first of three races on June 12 in seasonal monsoon conditions off Phuket’s Ao Yon.

Spectators enjoyed a day of close racing amongst the Phuket Tasar fleet and witnessed spectacular capsizes, while crews were on full hike.

Slipstream, skippered by Andrew de Bruin, expertly managed the tough conditions to take three firsts and an early lead in the Lady Pie Series. Seakitt Casschris earned a hard fought second in all three races and secured a good start to the series. G-String finished 4th, 3rd and 3rd and Lady Pie placed 3rd, 5th and 4th, having not made the start-line for race two.

The Lady Pie series continues on July 3 and will finish on August 17, 2011. Anyone interested in joining the Tasar fleet, contact Class Captain, Andrew de Bruin, on andrew@leemarine.net.
