‘Run4Rino Charity Run’ in Phuket next month
PHUKET: Runners of all ages from around Phuket are coming together to help young Rino Mangon Vogt, who is bravely battling a rare cardiac condition and urgently needs heart surgery.
Participants in the “Run4Rino Charity Run” at Nai Harn Lake on October 17 will each set a target number of laps to run around the 2.1-kilometer circuit.
Before the run they will gather pledges from friends to donate a certain amount per lap, a maximum number of which will be specified from the outset.
Walking will be allowed, hence anyone willing to help is invited to join in the run and help raise funds for young Rino, who suffers from a condition known as Ebstein’s Anomaly.
The event will take place in the cool early morning hours from 7am-9am.
Refreshments will be available for all participants and an ambulance will be on standby to assist in the event of a medical emergency.
While runners will have two hours to complete as many laps as they can, it is not required that they run the entire time.
Results will be based on the honor system, but runners expecting to run the entire two hours are asked to obtain a mark each lap so that organizers can verify who ran the most laps to help Rino.
Any extra proceeds will go towards surgery for the next of child on the list of patients awaiting treatment for Ebstein’s Anomaly.
