Rassada to become a municipality
RASSADA: The port of Rassada and the surrounding district will be upgraded from a Tambon Administration Organization (OrBorTor) to a municipality (tessabaan) in order to allow it to deal more effectively with some of the issues facing the area. The quality of roads and tap water, as well as the need to prevent flooding, were among problems discussed when Phuket Governor CEO Pongpayome Vasaputi met Dr Prasit Koeysiripong, President of the Phuket Provincial Administration and Omsin Apichattrakul, President of the Rassada Tambon Administration Organization [OrBorTor] on Saturday in Rassada. The Governor said, “OrBorTor Rassada has a small budget and little administrative power to manage [the area]. Things should improve when it becomes a tessabaan.” He pointed out that Rassada covers 38 square kilometers, a larger area than the adjacent Phuket Town Municipality. “If OrBorTor Rassada becomes a Municipality, it will be of benefit to people,” he added. The governor did not specify a date for the change.
