Porsches powering to Phuket
PHUKET: Competing for our attention with the omnipresent drone of vuvuzela horns over the next few days will be the sound of 25 Porsche touring cars, now on their way from Singapore and due to arrive in Phuket tomorrow.
The drivers, members of the Porsche Club Singapore (PCS), are today on a rally leg from Haad Yai to Krabi, where they will spend the night.
The German-built cars are expected to arrive at the Sarasin Bridge for a photo session at noon tomorrow before spending three nights on the island, the drivers staying at the Hilton Arcadia Resort at Karon Beach.
Highlights of their three nights in Phuket will include:
Saturday
7pm: Dinner at Da Vinci at Nai Harn Beach, Rawai.
Sunday
9:30am: Convoy to the Patong GoKart Speedway for the PCS GoKart Challenge.
Noon: Lunch at Thainaan Restaurant.
1:30pm: Shooting competition at Patong Shooting Range.
4pm: Children’s Charity Drive around Kata-Karon.
7pm: Dinner at the Hilton with local dignitaries, plus live entertainment and viewing of the F1 race from Valencia, Spain on a large-screen television.
Monday
9am: Set off on an all-day drive to Ranong, returning to Phuket in the afternoon.
