Pian runs for re-election as Patong Mayor
PATONG: Pian Keesin on Friday announced he will defend his seat as Patong Mayor at least one more time in the Patong Municipality election to be held on July 27.
Khun Pian will be leading the charge for the Rak Patong (Love Patong) party, contesting the mayoral election against Somkiet Kuru of the Patong Gao Na (Patong Progress) party.
Campaigning began in earnest on Friday after both parties announced their 18 candidates, six for each of the three electorates in Patong.
Patong Municipality council requires 18 members, comprising six councilors from each of three voting districts in the resort town, and an independently elected mayor.
Contesting for Patong Gao Na are:
Voting district 1: Boonrod Tiengnoi, Charoen Kwanyuen, Prasarn Nuchate, Narong Chue-yuan, Mana Panchalad and Prasert Pattakor.
Voting district 2: Kittisan Kuru, Boontaen Piromrit, Suwat Somnam, Weera Sombat, Manode Thonghom and Tawit Solos.
Voting district 3: Somchai Niewnan, Jantaporn Yhuyen, Charnsak Poommak, Sutthikarn Karnjana, Siripong Kitdamnoen and Manop Thuenthin.
Contesting for Rak Patong are:
Voting district 1: Boontu Iebsap, Adisorn Maneesri, Siwakorn Kraithong, Peerawat Hasan, Jakkrarin Charoenjit and Ammarin Saranyasakul.
Voting district 2: Tanin Atthasap, Prasit Changlek, Prasob Prateep na Thalang, Pongsak Kaenlek, Weerapot Iebsap and Sahat Charoongklin.
Voting district 3: Manit Yhuyen, Saichon Sombat, Pruedsapakom Setthong, Thaneechai Jaemjarat, Pradit Kongkaew and Weerawit Kruesombat.
In accordance with election law, there will be a ban on the sale and distribution of alcohol in Patong from 6 pm on Saturday, July 26, to midnight Sunday, July 27.
