Phuket picks up Condé Naste awards
PHUKET: Phuket has once again made its way into top global travel rankings, claiming several honors in Condé Naste Traveler’s 2010 Readers’ Choice Awards.
Phuket was ranked third in the Top Islands Asia category, with a score of 80.2 out of 100.
The Maldives scored 86.4 and Bali 84.4, claiming the top two spots respectively. Koh Samui was 8th, with a score of 74.6.
The rankings were based on responses from 25,916 readers.
The Amanpuri Resort Phuket was honored in two categories: it took 41st place in the Top 100 Properties (global) category with a score of 95, and placed 5th in the Top Resorts Asia category.
Thailand claimed several top spots. Bangkok and Chiang Mai placed first and second in the Top Cities Asia category.
The Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle in Chiang Rai was voted best in the Top 100 Properties and Top Resorts Asia categories, scoring a perfect 100 in both.
Islands were rated on “activities, atmosphere/ambiance, beaches, friendliness, lodging, restaurants and scenery”.
Resorts were ranked according to: “activities/facilities, food/dining, location, overall design, rooms and service”; and cities were rated on “atmosphere/ambiance, culture/sites, friendliness, lodging, restaurants and shopping”.
Phuket was also honored in the 2010 World Travel Awards Asia & Australasia with the Indigo Pearl winning Asia’s Leading Design Hotel category.
The Six Senses Resorts & Spas won Asia’s Leading Resort Brand award.
