Phuket caveman to speak at IBAP meeting tonight

PHUKET: Eco-tourism advocate John Gray will be the keynote speaker at tonight’s meeting of the International Business Association of Phuket (IBAP).

Known as “The Caveman” for his pioneer kayak explorations into the unique karst formations of Phang Nga Bay, Mr Gray has spent 22 years in Phuket, most of it as owner of John Gray Sea Canoe.

The Californian is also a long-time contributor to the Phuket Gazette.

Also known as Ling Yai (Big Monkey) for his beard and size 16 feet, Mr Gray will tell attendees tonight of his current struggle “to protect the habitats he commercialized from high volume, low quality copies with no understanding or respect for nature.”

Doors for tonight’s meeting at the Thai Naan Restaurant opposite Central Festival open at 6:15pm and the program gets underway at 7:10pm.

Admission, including a buffet dinner and complimentary drinks, is as follows:

IBAP members: 200 baht

Visitors and guests: 400 baht

Students (12-17): 100 baht
