Phuket Blood Center calls for donations
PHUKET: The Phuket Regional Blood Center run by the Thai Red Cross is calling for blood donations, especially of blood types A-, B- and AB-.
“After the Seven Days of Danger [national road safety campaign] over the new year, we do not have enough to support the patients at Bangkok Hospital Phuket,” said Pornthip Rattajak, acting director of the center.
The blood types most in need are A-, B- and AB-, she added.
“These blood groups are more commonly found among foreigners than Thais, and are needed to help people injured in road accidents. We currently have only three regular donors of A-, three for B- and two for AB- who we can call on,” said Miss Porthip.
Stocks of blood types O+, A+, B+ and AB+ are adequate for now, but donations of these types are still welcome she added.
The Blood Center is open as follows:
– Mondays and Wednesdays, from 8:30am to 4:30pm (no break for lunch)
– Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 8:30 am to 8pm (no break for lunch)
