OrBorJor officers elected

PHUKET: The Phuket Provincial Administration Organization OrBorJor has elected Hutt Katanchaleekul as Chairman. At the inaugural session of the newly-elected body on April 29, Chaivichit Dattvatkanee was elected deputy chairman and Wacharapong Kuawong second deputy chairman. All three are Democrat Party members. The 24-member body, dominated by its 19 Democrats, was elected in polling on March 14. The election results were approved by the Central Election Committee (CEC) in Bangkok, and officially announced in Phuket on Monday. However, the chamber is still without a President. The Gazette understands that although the separate election of Anchalee Vanich-Thepabutr as OrBorJor President has been confirmed by the Central Election Committee (CEC) in Bangkok, the official paperwork for this confirmation has not yet been sent to Phuket. Until it is, her victory cannot be announced. Phuket Governor Udomsak Usawarangkura therefore presided in her stead at the opening session, held at Phuket Provincial Hall. All members were sworn in before the vote. No policy matters were discussed. The next OrBorJor meeting is scheduled for May 4.
