New terminal opened at Krabi International Airport
KRABI: Phumtham Vejyachai, Deputy Transport Minister, officially opened a new four-floor domestic-passenger terminal at Krabi International Airport on May 18.
Pisarn Jinacharn, Director of Krabi International Airport, said “The terminal has been built for domestic passengers and has many facilities such as restaurants, banks, taxi services and car rental offices. It has an area of 10,593 square meters and a maximum capacity of 1,200 passengers.
“At the moment Thai Airways and low-cost carrier Thai Air Asia operate daily flights between Bangkok and Krabi. I have also heard that One-Two-Go, operated by Orient Thai Airlines, will start flying to Krabi, although this has yet to be confirmed.
“We have also expanded the parking apron so that it is large enough to hold three Boeing 747s. We and our contractor are now planning to build a new international terminal as well as a new runway and taxiway. The taxiway should be complete by the end of this year,” K. Pisarn said.
