Layan Marina construction to start next month

PHUKET: Construction of the 1.7-billion baht Layan Marina project will begin next month.

The Managing Director of Layan Marina Co, Nathaphut Na Pathalung, confirmed today that the project, on 51 rai of land at the north end of Bang Tao Beach, is still going ahead.

He noted, however, that the start date has been put back in light of developments on neighboring pieces of land, most notably the parcel sold recently by Hongkong & Shanghai Hotels to Indonesian interests. These developments have mandated design changes.

He told the Gazette, “We have not yet asked for a construction permit from Mai Khao Tambon Administration Organization because we are now about to embark on co-branding talks with Grand Hyatt, so the house and condominium style has changed from our original designs.”

K. Nathaput added that there had been one more significant change to the plan – berths in the marina will be available only to those buying or renting homes in the project. This, he explained, is “because we would like to preserve the privacy and security of residents”.
