International boat show set for Phuket
PHUKET: An international boat show is to be held in Phuket at the end of next year. As well as being a venue for the boating industry, the Phuket International Marine Expo 2003 (PIMEX) will also showcase the Royal Phuket Marina Resort and Spa, which is due to be completed next year. Supported by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), the concept of PIMEX 2003 has met with enthusiasm in the Asian region and from Australia, New Zealand and Europe, promoters say. The show will be open to exhibitors in all aspects of the marine industry, and businesses in Thailand’s property market are also expected to participate. PIMEX 2003 will run from December 7-10, directly after the King’s Cup Regatta (November 29-December 6). Royal Phuket Marina will have 5,500 sqm of marina-side space for exhibitors, with 30 yacht berths adjacent. Promoters say that PIMEX 2003 will also offer: – Three air-conditioned halls providing serviced exhibition space of 1,700 sqm for up to 100 exhibitors; – A bar, restaurant and hospitality areas; – 140-room hotel on site within walking distance (500m); – Shuttle services to all nominated hotels; – Parking on site for 200 cars/coaches; – Competitive hotel rates with special PIMEX accommodation packages in three- to five-star hotels. PIMEX 2003 is targeting exhibitors from the regional trade (including Australia/New Zealand), European/North American manufacturers’ regional representatives, international yacht builders, Thai yacht builders and service companies and high end property/resort developers.
