Fugitive arrested in Patong
PATONG: Kathu Police took into custody on Thursday night a fugitive wanted for murder and other crimes committed in Samut Prakan in December 2006.
Kathu Police Inspector for Investigations Lt Col Chalermchai Hernsawat identified the suspect as Kriengkrai “Krieng” Saelee, 26, a native of Tambon Paknam, Muang District, Samut Prakan.
Kriengkrai was arrested about 10:30 pm while selling clothes at a stall at the Ko Kaew outdoor market on Rat-U-Thit 200 Pi Rd, near Jungceylon.
The Samut Prakan Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Kriengkrai on January 4 this year for charges of murder, attempted murder, illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition, and discharging a firearm in public, Lt Col Chalermchai said.
He added that he was unfamiliar with the details of the suspect’s alleged crimes except that they were committed on December 31, 2006 allegedly as part of a conspiracy.
The arrest warrant was distributed to police nationwide after the suspect fled Samut Prakan, he said.
Kriengkrai moved to Patong to live with relatives who owned a clothing stall at the Ko Kaew Market, Lt Col Chalermchai added.
