FantaSea to close again until February

KAMALA: Phuket FantaSea opened its doors today for a special booking, but will close again from tomorrow until February 1, and possibly beyond that.
The prominent tourist attraction closed on January 8, after the number of bookings plummeted following the tsunami.
At that time, Managing Director Pin Kewkacha said that FantaSea had sustained damage totaling 60 to 70 million baht, and that, in addition, it had lost between 150 million and 200 million baht in revenue because of the slump in the number of visitors.
Sirikul Amaramorn, Public Relations Director of Phuket FantaSea, today told the Gazette
that the theme park’s management team had decided to close the attraction from tomorrow until January 30.
She added, “We are not yet sure if we will reopen [next month]. That will depend on the number of tourists at that time.”
In the meantime, however, all FantaSea employees will keep their jobs, K. Sirikul said. Indeed, the park is still accepting job applications.
