Charn re-elected as Chamber Chairman

PHUKET TOWN: Members of the Phuket Chamber of Commerce, meeting late into the night, voted on Saturday to re-elect Charn Wongsatayanont as Chairman of the chamber. K. Charn received 11 votes, just one vote more than his rival for the position, Pamuke Achariyachai, president of the Kata Group of Hotels. The 21-member committee elected at the same time includes eight new faces. These are: Phumisak Hongyok, Mayor of Phuket Town; Dr Jirachai Amornpairoj, Consultant to the Managing Director of the Bangkok Phuket Hospital; Montri Hongyok, Managing Director of Anuphas Vividhkarn Co; Chukiat Thitadilok, Managing Director of Phuket Best Food Co; Pakin Raktaegham, Managing Director of the Layan Beach Hotel; Panompol Thammachartniyom, Chairman of the Phuket Professional Guides Association; Kriengsak Suksomboon, Manager of Bank Thai PLC; and Charin Thamrongkiatikul, Managing Director of Phuket Cement Co. This is K. Charn’s second two-year term as chairman of the chamber. He will announce later which members will take which positions in the committee. The chamber’s annual meeting, held at the Phuket Merlin Hotel, of which K. Charn is General Manager, began at 6.30 pm on Saturday and closed at 2.30 am on Sunday. K. Charn, 49, is the Managing Director of Phuket Jet Tour and Chairman of the Phuket White Pearl Group and other local charities.
