Canadian crash victim safe after blood donations
PHUKET: A Canadian man badly injured in a motorcycle accident on Friday is now in stable condition thanks to donations of A-negative blood, medical staff at Vachira Phuket Hospital confirmed this morning.
Connelly Bavid Lee, 35, required the blood so doctors could carry out a second round of surgery following emergency treatment after Mr Lee was seriously injured in a collision with a 10-wheel truck in Phuket. (story here).
“Mr Lee is in a stable condition now and was transferred to Bangkok Hospital Phuket on Saturday. On behalf of the patient, I would like to say thank you to all those who donated blood. You all helped save his life,” said Ampai Saengwichitr, a medical technician at Vachira Phuket Hospital.
Ms Ampai said the hospital now has a supply of spare blood thanks to the donations. However, blood donors are welcome to donate more to bolster stocks.
Blood donations can be made at Vachira Phuket Hospital at the following times: Monday-Friday, 8:30am-8pm; Saturday and Sunday, 8:30am-3pm.
The Phuket Regional Blood Center (PRBC) also accepts donations on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm; Tuesday and Thursday, 8:30am-8pm; and Saturday and Sunday, 9am-3pm.
