Burmese man stabbed to death
PHUKET TOWN: A Burmese fisherman was found murdered near Rassada Port on Sri Sena Rd early yesterday morning. Pol Lt Col Weerawat Jantarawichit of the Phuket Town Police told the Gazette that at around 10 am yesterday, officers received a phone call from someone living in the area informing them that the body of a man had been found near the entrance of Rassada Port on Sri Sena Rd. The victim was wearing only a maroon long-sleeved shirt. There were 18 stab wounds in the man’s stomach, chest and back, which appeared to have been inflicted with a sharpened steel reinforcing bar. His penis had been almost completely severed, though police surmise this injury may have been inflicted post mortem by an animal. At the scene, the police also found a single black flip-flop shoe near the victim. “I think this man was killed at another location and his body was then moved. He probably had a fight with another Burmese,” said Pol Lt Col Weerawat. Initial autopsy results indicate the man died about eight hours before his body was found.
