Another Burmese stabbed to death

PATONG: Police are searching for the Thai girlfriend of a Burmese chef who was found stabbed to death in his room on Nanai Rd October 12. The man worked in a local Italian restaurant and is believed to have been dead for three days when his body was discovered.

Pol Lt Col Chaowalit Niemwadee, Duty Inspector at Kathu Police Station, said, “At 4:30 pm on October 12, I received a report from a landlord who had found a body in one of his rooms in Nanai Rd.

“When I arrived at the scene, the landlord opened the door of the room for me. We know the victim’s first name was ‘Peht’, he was 22 and from Burma. We do not know his surname. The body had been there for some time and could be smelt in the neighboring rooms.

“The victim had been stabbed several times in his neck and chest with a small knife. We found him on the bed wearing shorts and a T-shirt. There were blood stains on the bed and the floor. We searched the building for the murder weapon but were unable to find it,” he said.

“The body was sent to Patong Hospital for an autopsy, after which the victim’s relatives claimed it.

“The victim was a chef at Italian Restaurant in Rat-U-Thit 200 Pi Rd, Patong. His employer said that he was a good worker; quiet, and always got on well with everyone. He lived with his Thai girlfriend. We know she is known as Koy and she is from Nakhon Sri Thammarat. The victim’s landlord said that he had heard them arguing for a few days but thought nothing of it.

“We are currently searching for the girlfriend. She has not been seen since Peht’s death and is the chief suspect in this case,” Col Chawalit said.
