Phuket airport increases domestic passenger seating
200 more seats have been installed for domestic travellers to solve the crowding issue while new ventilators have also been installed.
The waiting lobby for the domestic departures has been expanded from 2,000 square metres to 5,000 square metres with 200 more chairs starting from today (February 14) onward. The ventilators have been installed as well.
The expanding of the lobby makes some change to the walking route of passengers, from check-in to Security. Usually, after checking in luggage and printing the flight tickets, passenger would head to the screening point. However, after the change, the screening point has moved to the north side of the building which is a wider area and allows the passengers to get through the lobby faster.
The completion of the renovations is expected to be June this year, according to a spokesperson from the Phuket International Airport.
