Swiss man saved after suicide attempt over financial losses to Thai ex-wife
A Thai man successfully rescued his Swiss boyfriend from a suicide attempt at a house in Pattaya, reportedly due to financial losses connected to his Thai ex-wife.
The 37 year old Thai man sought urgent assistance from Nong Prue Police Station after discovering his 66 year old Swiss boyfriend sitting in the bathroom, covered in blood. Despite the Swiss man’s plea to be left to die.
“I’m sorry. I want to die.”
Police arrived at the scene alongside rescuers from the Sawang Borriboon Foundation. The Swiss man was found sitting on the floor, leaning against the bathroom wall, with several deep cuts on his neck. His Thai boyfriend was by his side, attempting to stop the bleeding.
The rescue team provided first aid and prepared to take the Swiss man to hospital. He initially refused, crying and pleading with the rescue team to leave him alone.
“Leave me to die here, please. Don’t take me to the hospital.”

The neighbour promised to support him financially, which persuaded him to go with the rescuers.
The Swiss man’s boyfriend told Channel 3 that they had been together for three years. He revealed that the foreigner suffers from depression but has never received proper treatment due to their financial struggles.
The boyfriend explained that the Swiss man woke up at 8am, while he woke at 10am to the shocking sight of his injured partner.
The Swiss man also left a suicide note addressed to his boyfriend and others on the dining table.
Channel 3 reported that the Swiss man’s depression stemmed from an ongoing legal dispute with his Thai ex-wife over financial matters. He allegedly lost all his money and valuables to her, and the case is currently in court.
In a separate incident on December 4, Thai police successfully intervened to save an elderly foreign man from a suicide attempt at a condominium in Pattaya. It was reported that the man had previously made multiple suicide attempts, though the reasons behind his actions were not disclosed.
