A one-stop service centre has been set by the Krabi Governor, gathering all the departments involved to assist victims of last night’s fire. Fire trucks have also been brought to the location and fire extinguishing drills has been taught to the locals as an additional measure for the future.

After an investigation forensic police have confirmed that the cause of fire was a leak from the cooking gas tank in the restaurant of the October Guesthouse, followed by an explosion caused by a spark that became a fire spreading to 25 other adjacent premises.

The one-stop service centre will bring together officials from the Immigration Office, Krabi Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office, Office of Social Development and Human Security, Tourist Centre and local administration organisations to assist victims from the fire while there is an increasing number of victims registering, especially foreign tourists who lost their valuables in the blaze.

“The one-stop service centre will help the victims in all the aspects of concern – all at one place. For temporary protection, we have brought in fire trucks and have been conducting fire extinguishing drills to teach the basic of fire prevention and control for the future. For long-term protection we suggest all businesses should install fire extinguisher, smoke detectors and fire sprinkler systems. There must also be fire hydrants to connect water to extinguish the fire immediately in all areas as well,” said the Krabi Governor.
