PHUKET: Police yesterday caught a woman allegedly trying to smuggle in marijuana and amphetamines stuffed in pumpkins.

Kanjana Srijuisai, 37, was arrested at a border checkpoint in Ubon Ratchathani after returning from Laos.

Noticing her acting suspiciously, customs agents pressed hard and found out that she had wheeled in some extra luggage and large pumpkins on a pushcart.

Three packs of marijuana weighing a total of 1.145 kilograms and 2,000 ya bah (methamphetamine) tablets were found in the pumpkins.

The suspect admitted that she was paid 15,000 baht from a man based in Chon Buri’s Laem Chabang port district to smuggle the drugs into the country.
