Thai tomboy kills her half-brother in SUV over sibling envy

Police arrested a Thai tomboy for killing her half-brother in an SUV parked on a road in the central province of Nakhon Pathom. She claimed she was envious of her brother, who received more love and care from their father.

Officers from Mueang Nakhon Pathom Police Station were alerted to the serious stabbing on Monday, October 14, and rushed to the scene with a rescue team. The victim, 23 year old Kanchit Raenuyaem, was found in the driver’s seat of his white SUV, parked on Thap Yai Tao Road in the Mueang Nakhon Pathom district.

Kanchit’s father arrived at the scene around the same time as the officers. He asked his son about the attacker, and Kanchit told him that Bum, his half-sister, stabbed him to steal his gold necklace. The knife used in the attack was found inside the car.

Kanchit later lost consciousness. He had multiple stab wounds across his body, including his head, chest, and legs. Rescuers administered CPR, but he remained unconscious. Sadly, Kanchit died on the way to the hospital.

Witnesses informed the police that the perpetrator, 28 year old Kanlayakorn, also known as Bum, was wearing a black shirt. They saw Bum fleeing the scene on a red Yamaha Grand Filano motorcycle, taking Kanchit’s gold necklace with her.

According to a report by SiamRath, Bum is the daughter of her father and his first wife, while Kanchit was the son of his second wife. On the day of the incident, Bum asked her father for money but he refused. She then arranged to meet her half-brother and committed the crime.

Police tracked Bum down in the Uthai district of Ayutthaya province yesterday, October 15, and brought her to Mueang Nakhon Pathom Police Station for questioning.

Bum admitted that she was envious of her half-brother because their father loved him more. She asked Kanchit for money and his gold necklace, but he refused. This led to an argument, during which Bum repeatedly stabbed Kanchit in the car.

Bum claimed she had initially tried to take her half-brother to the hospital after stabbing him but, believing he already died, fled the scene with the gold necklace and hid in a rented room in Ayutthaya.

Bun faces three charges including:

  • Section 288 of the Criminal Law: intentional murder. The punishment is the death penalty, life imprisonment, or imprisonment from 15 to 20 years.
  • Section 339 of the Criminal Law: committing theft by using force leading to another person’s death. The punishment is the death penalty or life imprisonment.
  • Section 371 of the Criminal Law: carrying a weapon in public places without a reasonable reason shall be punished with a fine up to 100 baht, and the weapon will be seized.
