Whilst the opportunist American ABC TV reporter didn’t break any laws with his interview on Friday with the youngest of the Mu Pa Academy youngsters, he did break a pact between the Chiang Rai Governor, physicians and child psychologists who asked that the media leave the boys alone.
Today CNN is reporting that Thailand is accusing foreign media of behaving irresponsibly by interviewing members of the young football team who were trapped in a flooded cave for two weeks before their ‘against the odds’ rescue.
Tawatchai Thaikyo, the Deputy Permanent Secretary for Justice said in a Facebook post,”I was saddened that the foreign media, whom we assumed understood children’ rights very well as well as the procedures for protecting children and minors, but their standards have turned out to be unexpectedly substandard.”
CNN reports that the Chiang Rai Province released a statement announcing that the Governor, Prachon Prachsakul, had assigned a task force to “discuss measures to protect the Wild Boar’s football team’s child rights, under the nation’s Child Protection Act.”
