The Thai Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) approved the implementation of the new 3P Safety policy aimed at ensuring the safety of patients, healthcare personnel, and the general public. Chonnan Srikaew, the Minister of Public Health, revealed this after a meeting with the committee to drive the patient safety policy.

This meeting had an agenda to consider the draft policy to drive the safety of patients, public health personnel, and the public for the second phase (2024 to 2027).

The 3P safety policy comprises three main points. Firstly, it aims to establish safety goals known as National Patient Personnel and People Safety Goals. The strategy to drive the safety of patients, healthcare personnel, and the public will be based on cooperation and resource support from all related sectors.

Secondly, the 3P safety policy promotes the utilisation of the National Incidents Reporting and Learning System data to foster learning and develop quality and safe services for patients, personnel, and the public at the department, regional, and national levels.

Lastly, the 3P safety policy encourages patients, personnel, and the public to participate in the development of health service systems and health systems for everyone’s safety and quality of life.

The meeting resolved to announce the second phase of the policy, focusing on patients, public health personnel, and the public, or the 3P safety policy.

The aim is for departments, healthcare personnel, service recipients, and the public to be aware of and adhere to this practice. The People Safety Goals or public safety policy from the health service system will be a new year’s gift, reported KhaoSod.

In addition to this, Chonnan added that the resolution also allows Thailand to advance from 2P Safety to 3P Safety. It is also necessary to develop a strategic plan for Patient, Personnel and People Safety: 3P safety policy that aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and its policy that takes into account the Safety, Health, and Well-being of all personnel and the public.
