A teenage Thai thief, who believed he could evade capture because he possessed invisibility skills, was arrested in the Ban Dung district of Udon Thani today. Contrarily to his past successful conquests, the teenage Thai thief’s attempt to steal a local’s motorbike was abruptly brought to a halt by alert villagers who managed to catch him after a chase ensued.

Upon searching the 19 year old’s bag, villagers discovered various stolen items including a marijuana plant, a tractor’s grinding stone and a tractor’s mouldboard plough. Also found in the teenage Thai thief’s possession were a lily flower, a Buddha amulet bracelet, and a 100-baht note, which Kupoe claimed were talismans that made him invisible during thefts, thereby ensuring his escape.

Following the arrest, Veeraphol Raksemavong, an admin of the Ban Dung Facebook page, updated the community about the incident. Veeraphol reported that Kupoe, a resident of Na Pho in the Phen district of Udon Thani, was caught with a black Honda Wave motorbike that didn’t have a license plate. This bike was identified as the vehicle used during the crime.

Meanwhile, Kupoe’s accomplice, Not, a resident of Ban Dang in the Phen district, managed to escape on a stolen motorbike. Not only did the villagers find a variety of stolen goods in Kupoe’s possession, but they were also surprised to discover a lily flower, a Buddha amulet bracelet, and a 100-baht note, which Kupoe claimed were amulets that ensured his invisibility during thefts and guaranteed safe escape.

Kupoe confessed that he and Not drove from their home in Ban Dang, Phen, to steal motorbikes in the Ban Dung area.

They had already stolen three bikes, and when they spotted a Scoopy-i motorbike parked outside a house without the keys removed, Not started it and fled. However, the owner of the motorbike, who was sleeping nearby, saw them and raised an alarm.

The bike owner then chased them in his pickup truck and managed to catch Kupoe. Regarding the lily flower and the Buddha amulet in his bag, Kupoe said they were his lucky charms that ensured his evasion, but this time, it didn’t work.

The owner of the stolen motorbike, a 57 year old man named Father Guest, was about to go to irrigate his salt fields when he saw two teenagers parking their motorbike in front of his house and starting his motorbike.

He was shocked and shouted an alert but it was too late as they fled. Father Guest decided to chase them in his truck and, with the help of villagers who heard his shouts, managed to catch Kupoe on the road behind the school.

Father Guest later told Thai media karma visited the teenage Thai thief.

“A young criminal, just 19 years old, and what’s surprising is I don’t know what kind of magic he’s playing with. He has a lily flower and a Buddha amulet bracelet, claiming they can make him invisible. But did he escape this time? He will face the karma he created in jail.”
