PHUKET: At least 32 passengers died and many others were injured when their chartered bus plunged into a ravine in Tak’s Muang district last night.
Police were alerted at about 7.30pm that a bus had slid off the AH12 Highway and fallen into a 30-metre ravine. Twenty-eight passengers died at the scene while the four others were later pronounced dead at hospital.
Initial investigations showed that the passengers were local officials and the elderly from Tasailuad Tambon Municipality in Tak’s Mae Sot district. They were on their way to Ubon Ratchathani province to cross the border to Laos.
They left Tasailuad at about 6pm and had the accident occurred about 90 minutes later.
