Electric car’s shocking failure, repair costs over 1 million baht

A woman’s electric car battery failed after being parked in the rain for just 20 minutes, resulting in repair costs exceeding 1 million baht. The issue has now been resolved, with the insurance company agreeing to cover the costs and spare parts being dispatched to the service centre.

The electric car owner, Suphinya, today shared her unfortunate experience. After leaving her electric vehicle (EV) in the rain for a mere 20 minutes, the battery malfunctioned, leading to repair expenses amounting to over 1 million baht. The car had remained in the showroom for months without any follow-up or assistance.

Subsequent revelations indicated that the situation had been amicably resolved. After discussions between the car owner and the company executives, a conclusion was reached. The insurance company has agreed to cover the repair costs and the necessary spare parts are currently being sent to the service centre.

Suphinya, who has a foreign husband, planned to complain to the embassy. However, following discussions, she expressed her satisfaction with the outcome.

The breakdown of the repair costs for the electric car has been disclosed.

The high-voltage battery for the performance model is priced at 754,910 baht. The cost for the electric charging cable sheath is 34,240 baht.

The motor drive controller maintenance kit comes in at 111,120 baht, while the motor drive controller itself costs 45,220 baht. Eight snow white sensors are priced at 2,720 baht.

The high-voltage power supply cable kit costs 10,620 baht and the HV power supply cable kit costs 6,290 baht. Labour costs include 5,070 baht for fitting the snow white sensors, 8,385 baht for replacing the HV power supply cable kit, and 487.50 baht for changing the electric charging cable sheath.

The front power domain labour costs are 8,385 baht, while the rear power domain labour costs are 10,530 baht. The labour cost for replacing the high-voltage battery is 3,900 baht.

The total repair cost amounts to 1,001,877.50 baht, excluding VAT. The company has assured Suphinya that the car will be repaired promptly once the spare parts arrive at the service centre, reported Khaosod.
