The students of Ban Pa Had School in Pua district, Nan province, were left disappointed when a promised donation and lunch treat failed to materialise. The school posted a message on its Facebook page showing the children rehearsing a thank you performance for the donor, who had pledged to provide educational funds, gifts, and fried chicken for the pupils.

“The children of Ban Pa Had School were eagerly waiting for the kind-hearted individual who promised to treat them to KFC. They were excited to receive winter jackets and were rehearsing their performance in anticipation of the donor’s arrival on the third day. But no one came. It’s heartbreaking to see them being deceived like this. What did they do to deserve this?”

The individual, who claimed to be a female pharmacist, contacted the school offering to donate and had subsequently made her Facebook profile private. However, she had previously posted about a project called Warmth for the Tummy, which was scheduled for Friday, November 3. The post claimed that she and a group of friends, including pharmacists and high school students, had organised the project to benefit several schools, starting with Ban Pa Had School.

The post specified that each of the 117 students would receive one warm jacket and an educational grant of 1,000 baht. In addition, the famous fried chicken restaurant was to provide a lunch meal for the 117 students and all the teachers.

The incident has sparked outrage online, with netizens condemning the cruel hoax and speculating on the motives behind it. Many suggested that the school should report the incident to the authorities, fearing that the individual could be fraudulently soliciting donations in the name of the school.

Following the incident, a kind-hearted individual contacted the school offering to provide the promised fried chicken meal to the students, reported Sanook.
