Bangkok’s Yellow Line skyrail starts test runs
The newest addition to Bangkok’s skyrail is here. The Yellow Line, which travels from Lat Phrao to Samrong in Samut Prakan, has reportedly begun its test run since last Thursday from the maintenance depot near Sri Iam station in Bang Na district.
The Yellow Line, which is a joint venture worth 54,768.455 million baht between Thailand’s Mass Rapid Transit Authority and Eastern Bangkok Monorail Ltd., is an elevated mass rapid transit system that will run directly from Sri Iam station to Samrong, then back to the depot, passing through a slew of busy areas like Sri Lasalle, Sri Bearing, Thipawan, and the shopping complexes of Seacon Square and Paradise Park.
The 30.4-kilometer line, which will have 23 stations, is slated to be finished in mid-2022, hoping to relieve traffic congestion on Lat Phrao Road and in the vicinity of the Airport Rail Link stations.
At Lat Phrao station, it will connect to the MRT Blue Line, as well as the Airport Rail Link at Lam Sa Li station.
