The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) has predicted extreme heat conditions in several regions from today until March 5, with temperatures expected to soar above 40 degrees Celsius in some areas. Detailed forecasts reveal varying heat levels across the country.

From today, February 27 to March 4, a weakening high-pressure system over the northeast and South China Sea will lead to reduced moisture from the east and southeast winds. This results in warmer temperatures and less rain in northern Thailand, while mornings remain cool with light fog, particularly in the northern and northeastern provinces.

The eastern winds affecting the Gulf of Thailand, the southern region, and the Andaman Sea will remain weak, causing occasional thunderstorms in the south. Wave heights in the lower Gulf are moderate at 1 to 2 metres, with waves over 2 metres in stormy areas.

Residents are advised to maintain health precautions amid changing weather conditions, and farmers should take preventive measures to protect crops. Sailors in the Gulf and Andaman Sea should navigate carefully, avoiding areas with thunderstorms.

In the northern region, from February 27 to March 4, expect cool mornings with light fog and hot afternoons. Temperatures range from a minimum of 20 to 24°C to a maximum of 29 to 38°C. Mountain tops will be cooler, with lows of 8 to 16°C. Southeast winds will blow at 5 to 15 kilometres per hour.

Northeastern areas will experience a 10 to 20% chance of thunderstorms, mainly in the lower region throughout the period. From February 26 to March 1, mornings will be cool with light fog, and daytime temperatures will rise by 2 to 4°C, reaching a minimum of 18 to 25°C and a maximum of 27 to 36°C.
