Teen vendor killed in motorcycle accident in Pathum Thani
A tragic incident unfolded yesterday involving a 17 year old vegetable vendor who died after a motorcycle accident near a PTT gas station in Pathum Thani, Thailand. Chulayut was riding home when he was sideswiped, causing him to fall, and subsequently run over by a trailer truck, resulting in his immediate death.
The incident occurred at 8.50pm yesterday, November 7, and the local police, represented by Kantsak Kongprasert, along with medical professionals from Bhumibol Adulyadej Hospital and volunteers from the Por Tek Tung Foundation, were promptly at the scene.
The accident took place on the inbound side of Lam Luk Ka Road, specifically at a U-turn area. Chulayut’s grey Honda Click 125 motorcycle, lacking a license plate, was found toppled in the middle of the road with its rear light shattered.
An eyewitness, 54 year old Rungphet, described the harrowing scene. He recounted seeing Chulayut lying on the road, with a six-wheel truck reversing nearby.
“I saw a trailer truck coming straight, running over him, causing his instant death. I quickly parked my bike to block the road, preventing further accidents, and waited for the police to arrive.”
Santi, the 55 year old driver of the six-wheel truck, added to the account by explaining that the trailer’s rear section had already run over Chulayut and fled the scene just as he was about to turn his truck around.
“I was shocked as I saw it all happen right before my eyes.”
Police are currently not fully convinced by Santi’s account and have decided to detain him for further detailed questioning at Khu Khot Police Station. They are also reviewing CCTV footage from the area to piece together the events leading to the accident, reported KhaoSod.
Meanwhile, Chulayut’s body was handed over to the Por Tek Tung Foundation, which then transferred it to the forensic department at Bhumibol Adulyadej Hospital for a thorough autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. The findings will help the family proceed with funeral arrangements according to their religious customs.
