Earlier, a 23-year-old man was stabbed to death about four miles away on New Union Close. Though formal identification is pending, he has been identified as Abdul Jalloh, a local resident. His next of kin have been informed and are receiving support from specialist officers.

Ms Tunstall expressed sorrow over the loss of another young life to violence, extending thoughts to the victim’s friends and family. She emphasized that tackling violent crime remains a primary focus and stressed the importance of community cooperation.

She reassured the community of an increased police presence in the borough and encouraged anyone with concerns or information about the murder to approach the officers.

Detective Chief Inspector Linda Bradley urged people to submit any relevant phone, drone, or dashcam footage from the area. She acknowledged the patience of the local community, as a crime scene will remain in place for some time while investigations continue.
